The Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) State Personnel Development Grant (SPDG) Graduation/Dropout Prevention Project is a major component of a five-year grant from the U.S. Department of Education Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP).

The SPDG grant was awarded to The Georgia Department of Education, Division for Special Education Services and Supports.
The intent of funding for the SPDG Grant which began September 2007 was directed towards improving educational results for students with disabilities through the delivery of high quality instruction and the recruitment, hiring, and retention of highly qualified teachers. The GraduateFIRST Project focuses on increasing graduation and decreasing dropout rates for students with disabilities. Participating schools have trained leadership teams that analyze the priority needs for their own school and determine those evidence based strategies in dropout prevention that will have the greatest impact on their school’s graduation rate.  For more information regarding the SPDG grant go to http://www.gadoe.org/ci_exceptional.aspx?PageReq=CIEXCSIG.
